Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder is a neurobiological condition that affects around 6% of the national population. The condition is characterised by developmentally inappropriate levels of inattention, impulsivity, and hyperactivity. ADHD may be considered mild, moderate, or severe depending on the number of symptoms and the extent of functional, social, or occupational impairment. Diagnosis will fall into one of three subtypes:

  • predominantly inattentive presentation

  • predominantly hyperactive/impulsive presentation

  • combined type (both inattentive AND hyperactive/impulsive)
