Autism is a neurodevelopmental condition that influences how a person experiences and interacts with the world. It can affect social communication, relationships, behaviour, interests, sensory processing, and the way information is understood and expressed. Because autism is a spectrum, every individual presents with a unique combination of strengths, challenges, and support needs. While signs of autism are typically present from early childhood, some individuals are not identified until later in childhood, adolescence, or adulthood when social, academic, or everyday demands increase.

At Inkblot Psychology Clinic, we provide comprehensive, neuroaffirming autism assessments that are designed to develop a thorough understanding of your child’s unique profile across developmental, cognitive, social, emotional, behavioural, and sensory domains. Our assessments focus not only on identifying areas of difficulty, but also recognising strengths and individual differences. Because autism and ADHD commonly co-occur, our autism assessment also explores attention, executive functioning, and ADHD-related traits as part of the assessment process. This allows us to provide a clear and holistic understanding of your child’s needs, inform diagnosis where appropriate, and offer practical recommendations to support success at home, school, and in the community.

Parent/Guardian Interview (2 hours)
A detailed, collaborative discussion covering developmental history, behavioural observations, and social/emotional functioning.

  • Includes the MIGDAS (Montgomery–Informed Guided Diagnostic Interview)

  • Developmental and family history

  • Additional considerations such as attention, executive function, and early learning

First Assessment Session (2 hours)

  • Cognitive assessment

Second Assessment Session (2 hours)

  • Sensory based interview

Teacher Consultation

  • Completion of a comprehensive teacher report form

Online Screeners
Following the initial appointments, we send out evidence-based screening tools to gather information on:

  • Adaptive functioning

  • Social communication

  • Attention and executive functioning

Feedback (approximately 4 weeks following the assessment)

  • Comprehensive report provided

  • Feedback consultation (30 minutes)

TOTAL FEE $2300

There is a $100 non-refundable booking fee, credited to the completed assessment cost, taken at the time of booking. $700 is payable at the time of parent interview, and the remaining fee is split across assessment sessions.

Specific Learning Disorder (SLD) - 1 hour

  • Functional (academic) assessment

AFTER THE ASSESSMENT

If your child receives a diagnosis of autism, we may recommend:

  • A functional capacity assessment by an occupational therapist

  • A more indepth speech and language assessment

  • A paediatric review

While we can provide guidance and recommendations where appropriate, we do not coordinate or arrange these external services. Please also be aware that there may be extended wait times when accessing other providers, particularly for medical specialists such as paediatricians.
