An adult autism assessment is a comprehensive evaluation that explores an individual's developmental history, social communication skills, sensory experiences, and patterns of behaviour. The assessment typically involves clinical interviews, questionnaires, review of relevant background information, and, where possible, input from family members or others who know the person well. The goal is to determine whether the individual's experiences and characteristics meet the diagnostic criteria for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and to identify strengths, support needs, and recommendations for daily life, education, or employment.

ADULT AUTISM ASSESSMENT PROCESS

Diagnostic Interview (2 hours)

Assessment (2 hours)

Questionnaires (including but not limited to areas of functioning, mental health, social communication and masking)

Feedback (approximately 4 weeks following the assessment)

  • Comprehensive clinical report provided

  • Feedback consultation (1 hour)

Total Fee $2100

There is a $400 non-refundable booking fee, credited to the completed assessment cost, taken at the time of booking. $850 is due at the initial interview appointment, with remaining fees being due at the final assessment appointment.

All adult autism assessment reports are reviewed and co-signed by one of our clinical psychologists.

Durations provided above for the assessments are a guide and may vary depending on your age and abilities. Extra time may be added for more complex cases at the rate of $240 per hour. 

NOTE: Please be aware that in some circumstances a psychiatrist may be required to confirm an ASD diagnosis. This is often necessary for certain services or funding. We can provide a list of psychiatrists for clients to contact however, we are unable to arrange appointments or facilitate referrals on your behalf.

In addition, psychological assessments for autism do not typically attract Medicare rebates and may not be eligible for private health insurance claims. Coverage varies, so we encourage clients to check directly with their insurer regarding any potential rebates.
